Purpose
SOFWERX, in collaboration with USSOCOM (PEOs: M, FW, RW, SW, SDA, TIS, Services, SOFSA Directorates: AC, AL, AS, AO, AR, EIS, S&T, K, SOJA) will host a collaboration event to identify work-life balance issues. The most recent USSOCOM climate survey revealed a work-life balance problem at the macro level. The purpose of this event is to get an overall perspective from a variety of SOF AT&L’s PEOs and Directorates representatives, to assist with the work-life balance initiative. This collaboration event will enable the participants to identify and prioritize the top 5 issues at the micro level, as well as identify potential solutions to mitigate or resolve the issues.

Background/Synopsis
On 13 July 2023, Mrs. Lori Shields, Deputy PEO-M, was tasked by the SOCOM Acquisition Executive (AE) to develop and lead a WLB Organizational Project Team to address the issues in the CY23 Defense Organizational Climate Survey (DEOCS). Through this workshop, representatives from SOF AT&L will review and analyze SOF AT&L WLB guidance, define the problem statement(s), and identify potential solutions for implementation.

Objective
Reach consensus on the top 5 issues that need to be addressed in order to improve the SOF AT&L work-life balance and work towards implementing change to fix those problems.

Why You Should Participate
You should participate in order to share your perspective and contribute to the proposed way ahead to mitigate and resolve existing WLB issues. SOF AT&L leadership wants to hear about and better understand the variety of WLB issues from many perspectives, Work-life balance means different things to different people, but it comes down to what makes people feel valued. By participating, you are contributing to improving the workforce climate for SOF AT&L. We want everyone to feel they are heard and to generate ideas to address and resolve the major concerns. By participating, you are helping improve the climate for all PEOs & Directorates, and SOF AT&L as a whole. Your opinions matter and we want to make ensure your voices are heard to create constructive solutions to make the workplace more balanced and effective for everyone.

Event Timeline
Phase 1 - 29 August 2023 Collaboration Event (CE): SOFWERX will host the AT&L only Collaboration Event (CE) to identify work-life balance needs for contractors, civilians, and service members within the SOF AT&L PEOs and Directorates. During this event, representatives from the PEOs and Directorates will work together to identify and prioritize the top 5 issues and work towards solutions to fix those problems. Participation in this event is not mandatory, however, it is designed to provide insights to ensure we fully understand the problem set(s) from each of the PEOs and Directorates to increase the likelihood of improving WLB for the enterprise. This CE is also an opportunity for attendees to meet and form teams that may provide more comprehensive solutions to the complex problems in the workforce,
