Purpose
The SOFWERX STEM Showcase 2024 is an opportunity for Government, Academia, and Industry to showcase technology, inspire, and guide the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. SOFWERX, in collaboration with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Industry Partners, and local Universities, Colleges and Trade Schools will host a 1-day STEM Showcase for high school juniors/seniors and college-age students on 10 May from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the SOFWERX facility in Tampa, FL (Ybor City).

Objective
Facilitate collaboration between Government, Academia, and Industry partners and high school juniors and seniors and college-age students to: 1) provide a variety of technology demonstrations, 2) share the “art of the possible” for education and career pathways, 3) highlight internship opportunities, and 4) identify employment opportunities.   

Focus Areas:

• Opportunities in Education: Universities, Community Colleges, Trade Schools

• Opportunities in Industry: Department of Defense Prime and Sub-Contractors, Commercial/Non-traditional Industry Partners

• Opportunities in Government: Military, Government Civilian

Why You Should Participate
By mentoring, educating, and involving school-age students in STEM activities, facilitating opportunities for students to see technology in action, and providing forums for students to interact with Government, Educators, and Industry Partners, our community helps foster a love for these disciplines, encouraging students to pursue STEM careers. This not only benefits the students but also strengthens the STEM workforce pipeline, ensuring a brighter future filled with innovation and technological advancement.   

Event Timeline

Completed Phase 1: 01 February 2024 to 22 March 2024 Submissions for SOFWERX STEM Showcase Open: Interested participants who could provide technology demonstrations, information on education/careers, and internship and employment opportunities within the STEM disciplines.

Completed Phase 1a: 22 February 2024 Q&A Telecon: Interested participants may dial into a virtual Q&A session to better understand the objectives/requirements for the STEM Showcase. 

Completed Phase 2: 25 March to 01 April 2024 Downselect: Subject Matter Experts will select those respondents/submissions they feel have the highest potential to satisfy a diverse range of STEM focus areas.  Favorably evaluated submissions will receive an invitation to attend the SOFWERX STEM Showcase on/around 02 April.

Phase 3: 09 May 2024 Booth Set up at SOFWERX: Selected participants can set up between 12:00-5:00 PM. Tables, chairs, power, and commercial internet are provided.

Phase 4: 10 May 2024 SOFWERX STEM Showcase: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Detailed agenda TBD
