SOFWERX, in collaboration with USSOCOM, seeks to accelerate the application of commercially‐derived software innovation into deployable warfighting capabilities in support of Special Operations Forces. Early identification of Warfighter needs and continuous engagement with users during software development and fielding will support increased lethality and efficiency.
These potential prototype projects will be directly relevant to enhancing the effectiveness of USSOCOM Mission Support Systems’ (MSS) software intensive programs, platforms, components, algorithms or processes. Through a multi‐phased, competitive process, this Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) will make awards to proposals for innovative, commercial technologies.
What is a CSO?
Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) is a competitive procedure to acquire innovative commercial items, technologies, or services. Commercial solutions will be sought on a full‐and‐open basis under certain technology areas relevant to MSS capabilities characterized by Areas of Interest (AOI). Submissions against these AOIs will be requested as Solution Briefs (SB).
Solution Brief submissions against the CSO will be accepted anytime during the open period but submission against a specific Technology AOI will only be accepted during the designated timeframe outlined in that solicitation.
Technology Areas of Interest
Specific Technology Areas of Interest will be announced when USSOCOM has particular interest in a further defined problem set for software‐intensive capabilities. The first AOI is anticipated to be released in late February or March 2020.
